CI is delighted to announce the return of our four annual scholarship contests. Winners will earn a scholarship for the Global Explorer Program, CI’s flagship program, worth $4,650, in London, New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Miami or San Francisco.
The four competitions are open to students and recent graduates looking to develop or hone skills in the following areas: Banking and Financial Services; Marketing, Advertising and PR; Start-Ups & Entrepreneurship; Design & Entrepreneurship.
Each competition is available to current students enrolled at university. Students may submit entries to more than one competition. Read on for more information. All entries and questions should be directed to competitions@city-internships.com.
WHAT IS THE GLOBAL EXPLORER PROGRAM?
The Global Explorer Program is our flagship experience. It is most popular with current undergraduate students and recent graduates looking to explore and discover their career path.

Each scholarship is applicable to the Global Explorer Program this summer in one of the following cities:

All winners will be announced within seven days of the deadlines stated above. The scholarship covers program tuition fees. The scholarship does not cover variable costs that may be associated with attending a CI program (e.g. flights, visas, accommodation, etc.).

Learn about financial markets. Prior investing experience is not required. The competition is designed to be a fun, easy, and rewarding way to learn about investing in the stock market. You’ll invest virtual, not real, money!
Resume talking point. Investing in a virtual portfolio provides a compelling addition to the resume of anyone interested in pursuing a career in high finance. Investment successes (and failures) provide great talking points and help you demonstrate a genuine interest in financial markets during interviews.
HOW DO I TAKE PART?

- Build and manage your portfolio over the course of the competition. You’ll have $1,000,000 USD to invest in a virtual portfolio.
From the main menu, select ‘Portfolio’ and add stocks to your portfolio. Complete missions and use the investing ideas feature to learn about the stock market and how to build and manage your portfolio.
It’s never too late to join in. The league might be won by one timely investment, or a series of sound investments.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The league opens on Weds, April 4th and closes on Mon, April 30th at midnight, EST. At this stage, the top three league leaders will be invited to present their investment strategy to the CI Contest Panel via Skype in the week commencing Monday, May 7th. This will comprise of a 15-minute presentation and 15-minute question and answer session with our founder Lewis Talbot, formerly of Merrill Lynch, Barclays Global Investors, and BlackRock.

MARKETING, ADVERTISING & PR SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST: Tell Your University’s Story
To win full sponsorship for the Global Explorer Program, we’re looking for a video that focuses on life on campus. Our mission at CI is to empower students to choose a profession and lifestyle, rather than chase one. How do you maintain a focus on the future, while enjoying the here and now?
Do you keep a part-time job? Do you attend resume workshops? Are you a member of a student organization?
You are welcome to interpret the topic as you wish. Your video should be less than one-minute in length.
We want to see you having a great time and involving as many other students as possible. Be innovative. It’s not necessarily about the finish of the video, but the thought that has gone into it.
The winner will recognize that that this is one-part creating a video, one-part marketing strategy. A large section of winning this competition is around generating exposure for your entry once it is uploaded onto CI’s Instagram page.
And remember, keep it clean(ish).

BUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURSHIP SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST: For aspiring change-makers
THE SCENARIO
You have been provisionally granted a $10,000 budget to conceive, design, develop and launch an online platform designed to help improve student outcomes. You should focus on the transition from (i) high school to college/university or (ii) from college/university to the working world.
Your investors are keen for the platform to demonstrate a significant capture of the market within twelve months of launch.
Your next step is to produce a business plan for your investors which covers the following:
• Target audience, market research
• Product definition: what is your USP?
• Design and development (including timeline)
• User acquisition and marketing strategy
• Revenue generation
Your business plan should be no longer than 1,500 words in length.

Showcase your design skills and creativity, develop your ability to work with a brief and earn your spot on the Global Explorer Program.
THE BRIEF
You have a new client, let's call them... "City Internships". They were founded in London in 2011. Back then, their ground-breaking internship program matched students with leading firms exclusively in London's financial hub, affectionately known as "the City". Now, City Internships offers three programs in 18 cities around the globe.
Your job is to re-name and re-brand CI/City Internships. You should produce a selection of your chosen name, logo, and branding themes, along with a short, written explanation of your choices.
CI is not-for-profit organization that has helped thousands of students enjoy career-enhancing, life-changing experiences since 2011.
Your design ideas should incorporate our unique approach to blending:
- International, experiential education;
- Practical, real-world experience with the world's leading companies, and;
- The importance of travelling, experiencing other cultures, and pushing your own boundaries.
CI is not a traditional study abroad experience. In addition to providing great in-the-moment experiences, our programs are designed to have a long-term impact on the trajectory of our alum's careers - who get hired 3 times more quickly and enjoy 30% higher starting salaries than their peers. Practice and refine your design skills. Working from a short brief isn’t easy. Working with that brief to create competition-winning designs is something you can shout about.
Resume talking point. Winning this competition will look great in the achievements section of your resume. How many of your peers have had their designs printed, shared and celebrated? Because that’s what we plan to do with the winning entry.

THE RULES
• You are welcome to enter as many competitions as you like, but submissions are restricted to one entry per person.
• All decisions made by the CI Contest Panel are final.
• In order to be eligible to receive the full scholarship, entrants must fit eligibility criteria, outlined below.
• You must own any necessary commercial licenses for media used or you must use media labelled for commercial use. Anything you submit comes with this guarantee.
• The full scholarships offered do not cover accommodation, flight or visa costs where necessary.
• The scholarships are available for summer 2018 only and the Global Explorer Program only.
• By submitting an entry, you transfer ownership of your submission in its entirety to CI.
ELIGIBILITY
Since entrants are competing for a fully-sponsored spot on the Global Explorer Program, all entrants must be eligible to take part.
This program is open to students and recent graduates from all over the world. In addition to being bright, ambitious and passionate about exploring your chosen career path, you must be fluent in both written and spoken English. If you wish to apply to a non-domestic program, you must also possess a valid passport.
